CONNIE MAXWELL CHILDREN’S HOME
 
Located in Greenwood, South Carolina, Connie Maxwell has been caring for abused, abandoned and neglected children since 1892. Support and love are provided to these children through volunteers. Some areas of need are maintenance projects, assistance with summer activities, cottage sponsorship, special events and sharing of personal talents and abilities. FBC provides financial assistance to Connie Maxwell on a monthly basis.

Laurens County Literacy Council
 
The Laurens County Literacy Council is available for adults to continue their basic education. The Council specializes in basic language tutoring as well as English as a 2nd Language (ESL). This ministry exists to aid adults in conversational English as well as reading in order that they can live up to their ability in society.

Cub Scouts
 
First Baptist Church sponsors Cub Scout Pack 21. These scouts learn curriculum of Boy Scouts of America through the leadership and support of our church. Special projects, materials and leadership are needed on a regular basis. The time commitment for this ministry is one hour per week, depending on volunteer’s schedule. This ministry exists to teach young boys Christian principles and help instruct them on becoming men. Boy Scouts meet once a week for one hour at First Baptist Church.
 
Girl Scouts
 
FBC sponsors Girl Scout Troops 575 and 626. These troops are involved in learning necessary character traits to help them become responsible young ladies. Besides their annual cookie sells, these troops are involved in service projects and summer camps.

Hispanic Ministry
 
Cirilo Sachez is the Laurens Baptist Associational Hispanic Pastor. He is currently working on beginning a Hispanic ministry in Joanna, South Carolina. There are other opportunities in Laurens County to help with the Hispanic population through the Laurens Baptist Association. The Hispanic ministry meets at First Baptist Church in Clinton, South Carolina every Saturday from 5:30 – 8:30 PM. ESL classes begin at 5:30 PM followed by a worship service from 7:00 – 8:30 PM. Volunteers are needed to help with the children. The goal of this ministry is to help Hispanic people have a better life by coming to know Jesus Christ.

Laurens Memorial Home
 
The Laurens Memorial Home is an assisted living facility for physically challenged adults. Its goal is to offer an environment to allow residents an enriching life. Three main areas of assistance needed are: helping residents get to needed appointments, offering activities for residents, and helping with meals and snack times.

Relay for Life
 
Each year the American Cancer Society raises funds for continued research. First Baptist Church has a team committed to raise money and participate in the Laurens County Relay for Life event. This event not only helps financially, but it also remembers and honors loved ones who have faced cancer.

United Ministries of Clinton
 
The United Ministries of Clinton is an organization created to assist needy people in Laurens County. Individuals are evaluated for needs as well as financial guidance. United Ministries offers a food bank and sewing classes.
